Why Are You Praying For Snow?

So I teach a a Bible journaling class for 6th thru 8th graders at my school! One of the very sweet little girls in my class, every time I ask for any prayer requests, wants to pray for the same thing - snow! At first, I was like, “Oh, of course we will pray for snow!” But after about the 15th time, no exaggeration, I kind of wanted to say stop praying for snow. It will snow when God wants it to snow! I know that might seem kind of harsh, but lets be real, after you pray for something that many times - you get kind of tired of praying for it.

Today, I started thinking to myself, why on earth should I keep letting this little girl pray for snow? After thinking for no more than a quick minute, I realized that this sweet little girl was showing her childlike faith. It literally made me stop in my tracks thinking of the fact that I almost smashed a little girls childlike faith, when that type of faith is something I strive to have. I know it might seem silly to pray for snow exactly the ways she prays for it, but she has faith that God will answer her prayers. Lately, I have been struggling with trusting God in my prayer life. I have been doing the pray for it once and be done thing. But I need to be in continuous prayer, and maintaining a childlike faith. One thing I need to remember though, is that God will usually answer prayers with either a “yes”, a “no”,” or a "not right now”. I need to trust His answer, and as I am praying, I need to pray for God’s will to be done - not for silly ol’ Tessa’s will to be done! Do you relate? Have you been praying for your will to be done instead of God’s lately? If you are anything like me, you probably have, but together we can strive to change our prayer life and to move forward living different!
